A Belated Sick Burns Recap

A Belated Sick Burns Recap

Hello all! First of all, I'd like to apologize for not getting this out on Friday. I was on deadline for a Teen Vogue piece you'll see next week and had absolutely no time to get this out and yesterday I was too exhausted.

This week's recap will be shorter than usual, but I am planning the usual longer essay for tomorrow so stay tuned.

What I've been up to: If you follow me on social media, you'll have seen me posting about the media collective I helped co-found last year called The Flytrap. It's basically me and 8 other super talented writers and artists producing old school feminist cultural criticism.

None of us work full time for The Flytrap, but we all have equal stakes in the venture and contribute the time that we do have available. This gives us flexibility in that we all have alternative sources of income and can afford to work for little or (in our case this year) nothing.

We're currently running a membership drive to celebrate our first year in operation and you can get a 15% discount on a new subscription today here. Or if you were a Kickstarter supporter for us pre-launch, you can get an even deeper discount here.

We are so close to hitting our goal for this campaign and being able to pay ourselves a little bit for the first time!

What you might have missed from me this week:

-On Monday, I wrote about how Trump is using the government to demand personal royal tributes from corporations, citizens seeking pardons, and international governments.

-On Wednesday, I took a closer look at a centrist Democratic organization's prescription for how to win elections by moving further to the right. Turns out the report was authored by a 22 year old with no experience in campaigning and the organization that sponsored it hasn't ever won a major election.

-On Thursday, Cancel Me Daddy put out an episode with our favorite guest, Michael Hobbes and had a great conversation about the awful hiring of Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News.

Thank you for reading! Have a good week! If you appreciated this piece, consider becoming a paid subscriber!
